Amor fati?

In another universe, far far away

Aeons into the future or the past

To another "here" and "now"

Where the  present is recast;

In this other universe

Where humanity is one but diverse

That is celebrated, not a curse;

Our worlds could collide and merge

Into an abode of our choosing;

My essence of being and yours

Together in the ocean of life, cruising.

But is life so fatalistic

That the universe that be -

The initial conditions of our here and now -

Written in the stars that evolve and die;

Keep us worlds apart without a why?

Motion denied

Meetings about meetings,

And meetings about action,

While the universe marches on,

Without my radio-quiet attention!

How many a supernova's life is gone,

How many a black hole twist,

When I am trapped in a meeting,

Going through the agenda's list?

How many a star is born,

And how many galaxies collide,

While sifting through the minutes of the previous meeting,

Before their veracities we decide?

How many pulsations come and go,

Of that tiny magnetic star,

Or how many a solar flare!

While "Any other matters to discuss?', demands the chair,

"We have a few more minutes to spare!"

Oh, meetings held and narratives told,

Day in, day out, galore!

While the vast complexities of the cosmos unfold,

With so little time to explore!
